William Stuart 'Bill' Roberts,
74, of Gastonia, NC, died Thursday, May 03, 2007 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Gaston County, and was a son of the late Dr. William McKinley
Roberts and Sarah Jones Roberts.
Bill was a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in horticulture and
owned and operated Carolina Garden and Farm Service on Main St, Gastonia in 1965
and moved the business to Union Rd. in 1984. He was also the Landscape
Supervisor for the City of Gastonia for 16 1/2 years. He served in the US Army,
armored division from 1956 - 1958 and served seven more years in the US Army
Reserve. Bill was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia
where he was active in the Henderlite Men's Sunday School Class, a Deacon, and
member of the grounds committee. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Gastonia
since 1965, member Boy Scouts of America, Cherryville, search committee for Camp
Golden Valley, member of PTA Grier School, was appointed to represent Gaston
County on the Lake Wylie Marine Commission, and was a Mason A.F & A.M. lodge
#369. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Brian Wall for all of
his loving care.

daughters-in-law, William Stuart, Jr. & Melissa Roberts of Gastonia; Joseph
Preston & Lynn Roberts of Rural Hall, NC; twin brother & sister-in-law, Frank
McKinley & Jo Roberts of Gastonia; granddaughters, Rebecca & Caroline Roberts of
Gastonia; Rachel & Eliza Roberts of Rural Hall, NC; special friend and
caregiver, Ken Cheney; good friend, Kenny Howe.
